Does Sauna Use Improve Brain Function?

I'm sure you're aware that regular sauna use holds host to a  number of health benefit. Arguably one of the most important being brain health & function.

There are currently 944,00 people living in the UK suffering with dementia & this number is projected to rise. With over half of the UK public knowing someone who has been diagnosed with a form of dementia. No wonder why many of us are willing to implement some lifestyle changes to help reduce our risk of the disease.

So how exactly does regular sauna use improve Brain function?

Long term research studies have demonstrated that high blood pressure in mid-life is a key factor that can increase your risk of developing dementia in later life, particularly vascular dementia. Because of the high temperatures found in a sauna cause your blood vessels to dilate, your blood pressure lowers.

This improved vascular function, reduced inflammation, and reduced blood pressure helps decrease dementia risk by reducing its risk factors, such as hypertension, vascular problems, and inflammation.

In an observational study of over 2000 healthy Finnish men it was found that those who used a sauna 2-3 times per week & 4-7 times per week had 21% & 66% lower risk for dementia respectively.
